Six months of Aladdin - a first project review
After six months of running the Aladdin project, it is time for a first look back at what we have achieved so far and to look ahead to what we expect in the next months of the project. A good reason to do so was the second project management board meeting which took place in Kingston upon Thames, on the 2nd and 3rd of February 2006.
The project consortium came together in this homely town near London to speak about the results obtained during the first months and to launch into the next phase of the project, called "Specification". In this respect the findings of the work package "Requirements analysis" were presented on the first day. They were based on the process analysis carried out for the three trial destinations (Stockholm, Budapest and Wolfgangsee); the best practice infrastructure analysis; the research on industry standards; broadband networks; and the usability aspects for Aladdin. In addition, and as necessary preparation for the specification work, goals for the Aladdin system were derived from these different analysis areas.
Thus the introduction of the work package "Specification" took the centre stage on the second day. The ork package leader, IAT, explained the time plan, distributed tasks and responsibilities among all the partners. In the following workshop a brainstorming brought up first usage scenarios on the new services that will be provided within Aladdin.
Another issue on the agenda was the presentation of Aladdin dissemination activities, undertaken in the last period and the deliverable "Market analysis". The document, in the form of a report, provides a closer look at the composition and growth of the Aladdin targeted markets and serves to further our understanding as a whole of the market conditions existing for the Aladdin system.
